CFS2 Mission - FvB_Redux_18 "Bomber Busting Over Bremen." CFS1 mission converted for use in CFS2. Jump in your Messerschmitt and climb to angels 15 to engage the Liberators attacking Bremen. Watch out for pesky escorts as you battle your way to victory.

Greetings Simmers,

This is another in the long-running Redux series of CFS1 stock converted missions I seem to have devoted my life to. This one is one of the "bonus" missions that can still be found on the Microsoft COmbat Flight Simulator 1 site, and was not included with the original game. There are two viewpoints to this one and the other will be available as well. This one has you defending the Fatherland as a Luftwaffe pilot flying out of Oldenburg to defend Bremen from aerial bombardment by B24 Liberators. Enjoy!

Install: Drop mission (.mis) and dynamic (.dyn) files into your CFS2/mission folder. Thats it, if you have all the needed files required, it should work fine. If not, check in your root CFS2 folder and look for the file "error.log" and open it with notepad. It will tell you exactly what the problem is. Usually it is an airplane folder spelled differently or something else minor along those lines.

(OPTIONAL)Drop the B24 dp into your B24 folder and delete the CDP file that resides there (it will be rewritten by the game the next time you use it).

Copy the sound files spitwin, spitlose, and siren from your CFS2/sound folder to your CFS2/sound/action folder so they can be heard in the mission.

WARNING: I would strongly suggest you not run this mission through the mission builder, as much hand editing was done that the mission builder will overwrite and you'll likely end up with a mess. You'd have to know how to hand edit the dynamic file to be able to access some parts of it anyway, as several multiple and/or triggers have been added.

NOTES: I had intended to include two versions of this mission. One light version for slower pc's, and the regular version which utilizes the CFS1 full 18 bomber box formations. However, after doing so, the results were not much different, so I've decided against it. If you have the horsepowerpower, I'd recommend playing on hard level, as it is much better and quite a bit more impressive visually. These missions use the little known feature of only making some units show up on medium and hard levels (more hand editing), so if hard is just too much, give a lesser level a try.

CREDITS: Special thanks to Sarg Willy who provided the idea for the dp modification to the B24, which makes them much more ferocious. If the stock Betty bomber is too tough for you, you may want to just leave your B24 as is and not include the one I've provided. If you do want to use this one, make sure and backup your other one first! This dp file uses the DB_US_Weapons in place of the stock ones, so you'll need to have those installed, which most of you do anyway I'm sure.

MICROSOFT for the original mission and a great simulator that just keeps on ticking.

LEGAL: This mission is freeware and is not to be sold for any reason. Use at your own risk, as I claim no responsibility for damages incurred from its use.
